Deeper week | Element: Water | Primary Practice: Ritual
This week’s practice works best as a ritual, but you can write about the experience afterward, voice-record your reflections, or let the ritual itself be the practice. Please just create some record you can return to.
You're starting with your heart. The Ace of Cups is the card of self-love, emotional opening, and New Relationship Energy for yourself. This week you woo yourself the way you'd woo someone you're falling for. You’re a catch.
Understanding the Ace of Cups
You're starting with your heart. The Ace of Cups is the card of self-love, emotional opening, and New Relationship Energy for yourself. This week you woo yourself the way you'd woo someone you're falling for. You’re a catch. In the Modern Goddess Tarot deck, a hand offers an overflowing cup in front of a soft, pink sky. The water streams down into a serene pond with lotus flowers. This is an image of love being offered freely.
Look at the image in your tarot deck. Imagine that you are offering the cup of overflowing love to yourself. This isn't about someone else filling your cup. Instead, this is about learning what it feels like to adore yourself. Imagine treating yourself with the kind of care, attention, and desire you might offer someone you're falling for.
The Ace of Cups is an invitation to New Relationship Energy. Think of that gush of giddy intoxication of flirting with a new love interest. Turn that energy towards yourself.
What would it be like to woo yourself? To prepare for yourself the way you'd prepare for a date with someone who makes your heart race?
Primary Practice: RITUAL — The Self-Date
This week, you're taking yourself on a date. Not a casual hangout, but a real date. I want you to prepare, make an effort, and show up for yourself like you matter.
Start with water. Take a bath if you have access to one, or a long, intentional shower. Use the good-smelling, pampering things: your scrubs, oils, whatever makes your skin feel alive. Do your hair. Put on something that makes you feel sexyAF (whatever that means for your body: maybe it's a dress, maybe it's your favorite worn-in jeans and a leather jacket, maybe it's nothing at all). Adorn yourself as if you're preparing to see someone you're wild about.
Then take yourself somewhere that would please you. A walk at sunset. Your favorite restaurant. A museum. Your couch with takeout and a movie you've been wanting to see. Wherever feels like an actual treat.
The most important part: no one else is invited to this date. Just you and you.
Reflection
What was it like to be by yourself?
What was it like to treat yourself with the kind of attention we often only reserve for wooing someone else?
Revel in the NRE. Write down what you noticed: the smells, the tastes, the textures, the sounds, the songs that came up. What do you love about yourself?
Record it if you want to come back to it throughout the year.
